The Institute of Reproductive Grief Care invites healthcare professionals, students, and researchers to submit poster abstracts that align with our mission and the 2027 symposium theme. Poster presentations are an opportunity to share research, educational interventions, and emerging approaches that advance compassionate, evidence-informed reproductive grief care.

Theme & Mission Alignment

All poster submissions should connect to the symposium theme, The Emotional Emergency: Reproductive Loss Beyond the Medical Moment, and the mission of the Institute of Reproductive Grief Care.

Strong submissions will help advance understanding, education, research, and practice related to reproductive grief, with particular attention to the emotional, psychological, relational, spiritual, and systems-level needs that often extend beyond the medical moment.

Share Research, Innovation, and Educational Excellence

Your abstract and poster should be written for a multidisciplinary global audience that includes healthcare providers, academic researchers, community leaders, students, and specialized care providers.

1. Submission Categories

Research Poster

A visual summary of an original empirical study that answers a specific scientific, clinical, academic, or practice-based question through data collection and analysis.

Goal: To contribute new knowledge or validate existing theories within a field.

Educational Intervention Poster

A description of a specific action, program, curriculum, or tool implemented to improve learning outcomes, strengthen practice, or change behavior.

Goal: To showcase an educational strategy and evaluate its effectiveness.

2. Symposium Audience

Your poster should be accessible, relevant, and meaningful to a multidisciplinary global audience.

Healthcare Professionals & Students

Doctors, nurses, social workers, midwives, students, trainees, and allied health professionals from around the world.

Specialized Care Providers

Doulas, chaplains, bereavement specialists, peer support leaders, and mental health professionals.

Leadership & Academia

Hospital executives, nonprofit leaders, professors, researchers, educators, and community leaders.

3. Abstract Requirements

All submissions must include the following elements.

Title Page

Poster title
Names of all authors
Contact information for the corresponding author
Type of submission: Research Study or Educational Intervention

Summary

Submit a 200-word summary of the research study or educational intervention to be presented.

Mission Alignment

Submit a 100-word explanation of how the work aligns with the mission of the Institute of Reproductive Grief Care and the theme of the 2027 Symposium.

4. Important Dates & Deadlines

June 2026: Poster Submissions Portal Launches

December 15, 2026: Deadline for Poster Submissions

January 16, 2027: Notice of Poster Acceptance

February 15, 2027: High-quality JPEG or PDF of the poster is due

February 28, 2027: Physical posters must be postmarked to the Institute of Reproductive Grief Care office

March 5, 2027: Poster explanation is due

April 9, 2027: Symposium in San Diego, CA

5. Presenter Information

Attendance

Accepted submitters may attend in person or virtually.

Registration

The symposium registration fee is waived for chosen submitters.

Travel

Submitters are responsible for their own travel and accommodations.

6. Poster Specifications

Physical Poster: 24" x 36"
Digital Format: High-quality PDF or JPEG required for virtual display
Content: Must include objectives, methodology, data, analysis, conclusions, and references
Logistics: Physical posters must be printed/mailed at the author's cost or brought in person on the day of the event

7. Tips for a Standout Poster

Balance Your Space: Maintain a clean visual impression by balancing text, graphics, and white space.
Use Color Strategically: Use color to highlight key data or sections rather than for pure decoration.
Align for Clarity: Ensure all text blocks and images are aligned to create a professional, organized look.
Label Everything: Clearly label all images, graphs, and charts so they can be understood at a glance.
Prioritize Visuals: Use visual aids and charts to represent raw data whenever possible.
Stay Consistent: Use consistent fonts and sizes throughout the poster.

8. Poster Example

Your design does not need to match this layout exactly; however, posters should be easy to navigate, visually engaging, and clearly communicate key findings or educational outcomes.
